Lopez Heredia is emblematic with Rioja, with the family working at their winery and surrounding vineyards for over 150 years. Growing exclusively the traditional varietals of the region and practicing winemaking in the same way their forefathers did, even down to making their own oak barrels. It goes without saying but Heredia wines have no equal. Famous for their near-immortality in the bottle and robust secondary market prices, these are among the best wines in all of Spain, and certainly the best in Rioja. The limestone and clay soils of the Tondonia vineyard create wines with both aromatic and textural power that are then slowly aged in barrel over a minimum of 3 years before a period of aging in bottle.
